My name is Justin Louthan and I am a Custom finisher and Artist residing in Brunswick GA.

I started my career in the mid 90’s doing antique restoration followed by 13 years of Museum quality furniture refinishing and restoration. After taking a break for 2 years from finishing, I learned to build custom cabinets and furniture. During this break from finishing I started to develop my own custom textured finishes, these were the inspiration and start of Transcending Arts. This lead to an opportunity to improve my craft and test my skills while finishing for Custom Wood Interiors and Saturn Design in Seattle. For three years I had the pleasure of working on the highest quality custom furniture and casework being produced any where in the world. I worked for Creoworks in Seattle next where we produced custom commercial furniture and Casework for Hotels, Restaurants and Office environments all over the country. I currently am a custom Builder for East Coat Design in Brunswick GA.

I started creating art sculptures around 2010. My first pieces were relatively simple compared to where things have progressed, but they were very important to the foundation of my processes. The materials and mediums I use are endless and I think that shows in the diversity of my work. I believe there is a physical as well as an emotional investment in each piece I’m working on.
